The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
