The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 you pay attention 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
