The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
