And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
