And assuredly We have created human being from ringing clay of loam moulded. 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 A curse shall be on you till the Day of Recompense' 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
