And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
