Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim. 1 By this luminous Book. 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 He Who created these pairs, all of them, and provided you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 It is to our Lord that we shall eventually return.” 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
