The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
