And assuredly the dwellers of Hijr belied the sent ones. 80 And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them. 81 They used to hew out houses from the mountains and lived in security. 82 But the Shout seized them in the morning, 83 And what they earned did not avail them. 84 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but in truth; and the hour is most surely coming, so turn away with kindly forgiveness. 85 Surely your Lord is the Creator of all things, the Knowing. 86 (Muhammad), We have given you the seven most repeated (verses) and the great Quran. 87 [so] turn, not thine eyes [longingly] towards the worldly benefits which We have granted unto some of those [that deny the truth]. And neither grieve over those [who refuse to heed thee,] but spread the wings of thy tenderness over the believers, 88 And say: "I am a distinct warner," 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 Those who made the Quran into shreds. 91 So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all, 92 For all that they used to do. 93 Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah. 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 and believe other things to be equal to God. They will soon know the truth. 96 And assuredly We know that thou straitenest thy breast by that which they say. 97 But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration. 98 And go on worshipping your Lord till the certainty (of death) comes upon you. 99
