Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. 1 when that Day comes, every suckling mother shall forsake her infant and every pregnant woman shall cast her burden and everyone will appear intoxicated, although they are not: the punishment of God will be severe indeed. 2 And yet, among men there is many a one who argues about God without having any knowledge [of Him,] and follows every rebellious satanic force 3 Against whom it is prescribed, that: whosoever befriendeth him, him he shall lead astray and shall guide him on to the torment of the Flame. 4 O mankind! If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then verily! We have created you (i.e. Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah (mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge i.e. offspring of Adam), then from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood) then from a little lump of flesh, some formed and some unformed (miscarriage), that We may make (it) clear to you (i.e. to show you Our Power and Ability to do what We will). And We cause whom We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed term, then We bring you out as infants, then (give you growth) that you may reach your age of full strength. And among you there is he who dies (young), and among you there is he who is brought back to the miserable old age, so that he knows nothing after having known. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down water (rain) on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells and puts forth every lovely kind (of growth). 5 That is so for God is the undeniable Reality. It is He who brings the dead to life, for He has power over everything. 6 There is no doubt about the coming of the Hour of Doom and that God will raise every one from their graves. 7 Some dispute about Allah, though they have neither knowledge nor guidance, nor an illuminating Book. 8 Turning away in pride to beguile (men) from the way of Allah. For him in this world is ignominy, and on the Day of Resurrection We make him taste the doom of burning. 9 This is due to what your two hands have sent before, and because Allah is not in the least unjust to the servants. 10
