The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and banana trees, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water poured out 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
