The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and defilement flee! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and who still desires more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
