The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the pages are made public 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
