Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the scatterers (the wind) scattering, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
