Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said, “O my people! I am indeed a Herald of clear warnings to you.” 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly, 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
