The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
