So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
