The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Do men imagine that they will be left (at ease) because they say, We believe, and will not be tested with affliction? 2 We had tried those who were before them so that God knew who spoke the truth, and who were liars. 3 Do those who do evil imagine that they will escape Us? How ill they judge! 4 Whoso looks to encounter God, God's term is coming; He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 5 He who strives, strives for himself. Allah is the Rich, independent of the worlds. 6 And as for those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds, We shall most certainly efface their [previous] bad deeds, and shall most certainly reward them in accordance with the best that they ever did. 7 Now [among the best of righteous deeds which] We have enjoined upon man [is] goodness towards his parents; yet [even so,] should they endeavour to make thee ascribe divinity, side by side with Me, to something which thy mind cannot accept [as divine,] obey them not: [for] it is unto Me that you all must return, whereupon I shall make you [truly] understand [the right and wrong of] all that you were doing [in life]. 8 And as for those who believe and do good works, We verily shall make them enter in among the righteous. 9 Some people say, "We have faith in God." But when they face some hardship for His cause, they begin to consider the persecution that they have experienced from people as a torment from God. When your Lord grants you a victory, they say, "We were with you." Does God not know best what is in the hearts of every creature? 10 God certainly knows all about the believers and the hypocrites. 11 The unbelievers say to those who believe: 'Follow our path, and we will carry your sins' Yet they cannot carry even a thing of their sins. They are surely lying. 12 And surely they shall bear their loads and other loads beside their own loads, and surely they shall be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning that which they were wont to fabricate. 13
