Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 all of them except the chosen servants of Allah. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place. 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 we are they that give glory. 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 174 And wait; they will come to know soon. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 And praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. 182
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
