The man who believed said further: "O my people! Follow me: I will lead you to the Path of Right. 38 "O my people! This life of the present is nothing but (temporary) convenience: It is the Hereafter that is the Home that will last. 39 Whosoever does an evil deed will be requited only with the like of it; and whosoever acts righteously and has attained to faith -- be he a male or a female -- they shall enter Paradise and be provided sustenance beyond all reckoning. 40 ۞ "And O my people, how is it that I summon you to salvation, the while you summon me to the fire? 41 You are asking me to disbelieve in God, and to associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, yet I invite you to the all-mighty, all-forgiving. 42 Without doubt ye only call me unto that which is not to be invoked in the world nor in the Hereafter; and verily our return shall be unto God, and the extravagant; they shall be fellows of the Fire. 43 And you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah. Indeed, Allah is Seeing of [His] servants." 44 So Allah saved him from the evils that they plotted (against him), while an evil torment encompassed Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people. 45 They will be exposed to the fire in the mornings and the evenings and on the Day of Judgment, they will be told, "People of the Pharaoh, suffer the most severe torment." 46 When they dispute with one another in the Fire, the weak will say to those who deemed themselves mighty, "We were your followers; will you then relieve us of some of the Fire?" 47 [to which] they who had [once] been arrogant will reply, "Behold, we are all in it [together]! Verily, God has judged between His creatures!" 48 And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, "Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment." 49 They will say: "Did not your apostles come to you with clear proofs?" They will answer: "Indeed, they did." "Then pray," will (the warders) say. But the praying of unbelievers will be all in vain. 50
