The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!" 25 (We told Salih), "Tomorrow they will know who is the most arrogant liar. 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 Lot warned them against Our torment, but they persistently disputed it. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
