The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise and give warning! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and defilement flee! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 and who still desires more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
