The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a grievous day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
