Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
