The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
