When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 "Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them - and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
