Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HA MIM. 1 By the luminious Book. 2 We have sent it down in a blessed night (We are ever warning) 3 Whereon every wise command is made clear 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 as a mercy from your Lord, He hears all and knows all, 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith. 7 there is no deity save Him: It is He who gives both life and death -- He is your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers, 8 Nay! They play in doubt. 9 So be on the watch for a day when heaven shall bring a manifest smoke 10 Which will envelop the people; this is a painful punishment. 11 "O Lord, take away this torment from us," (they will pray); "we have come to believe." 12 How is it possible for them to accept guidance, whereas a Noble Messenger who speaks clearly has already come to them? 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Verily We shall remove the torment for a while; but verily ye shall revert. 15 But on that Day We will assault them most mightily, and then We shall revenge! 16 ۞ We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable, 17 Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful apostle to you, 18 "And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest. 19 and, behold, it is with my Sustainer - and your Sustainer - that I seek refuge against all your endeavours to revile me. 20 "But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone." 21 Then he supplicated to his Lord saying: 'These are sinful people' 22 So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued: 23 And leave thou the sea divided: verily they are a host to be drowned. 24 How many of the gardens and fountains have they left! 25 And fields and grand palaces! 26 And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! 27 Such was their end, and what had been theirs We gave to other people to inherit. 28 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited, 29
