Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
