The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
