(One day) the king said (to his courtiers): "I saw seven fat cows in a dream being devoured by seven lean ones, and seven ears of corn that were green and seven others that were seared. O courtiers, tell me the significance of my dream, if you know how to interpret them." 43 'A hotchpotch of nightmares!' they said. 'We know nothing of the interpretation of nightmares.' 44 After all that time, the one of the two who had been saved remembered, he said: 'I will interpret it for you, so let me go' 45 [He said], "Joseph, O man of truth, explain to us about seven fat cows eaten by seven [that were] lean, and seven green spikes [of grain] and others [that were] dry - that I may return to the people; perhaps they will know [about you]." 46 He said, “You will cultivate for seven years continuously; so leave all that you harvest in the ear, except a little which you eat.” 47 Then will come after that seven difficult [years] which will consume what you saved for them, except a little from which you will store. 48 Then thereafter there shall come a year wherein the people will be succoured and press in season. 49
