The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And raised couches; 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
