The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
