The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
