The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of the Book, and a Clear Qur'an. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 No community precedeth the term thereof nor doth it fall behind. 5 And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad. 6 Why dost thou not bring the angels unto us, if thou speakest truly?' 7 But then We never send the angels down save with the purpose (of enforcing their doom), after which they will not be given more respite. 8 We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption). 9 We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old. 10 But never once an apostle came to them at whom they did not scoff. 11 Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners - 12 They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples. 13 Yet even had We opened to them a gateway to heaven and they had ascended, on and on, up to it, 14 they would have said, "Our eyes are bewildered and we have been affected by magic." 15
