The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
