۞ We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him. 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: Aye! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth Who created them, and as to that I am of the witnesses. 56 I swear by God I will do something to your idols when you have turned your backs and gone." 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?" 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
