The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 by the much-visited House, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and the sea that is full 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 No one can avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
