The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
