The people of Lot rejected the Messengers, branding them liars. 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord! deliver me and my household from that which they work. 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
