۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 “And stop them they are to be questioned.” 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
