The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise, and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
