By no means! By the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 About the criminals, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
