The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
