He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attend to him, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
