AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
