Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? 30 And We have set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with them, and We have made therein broad highways (between mountains) for them to pass through: that they may receive Guidance. 31 And We have made the sky a roof, protected; and they turn away from its signs. 32 It is He who created night and day, the sun and the moon, revolving on its orbit. 33 We have given no man everlastingness before you. So then if you die, will they live ever after? 34 Every living being must taste death; and We test you with harm and with good – a trial; and to Us only you have to return. 35 But [thus it is:] whenever they who are bent on denying the truth consider thee, they make thee but a target of their mockery, [saying to one another,] "Is this the one who speaks [so contemptuously] of your gods?" and yet, it is they themselves who, at [every] mention of the Most Gracious, are wont to deny the truth! 36 Man was created of haste, surely I shall show you My signs, so ask Me not to hasten. 37 And they say: When will this promise (be fulfilled), if ye are truthful? 38 If only the Unbelievers knew (the time) when they will not be able to ward off the fire from their faces, nor yet from their backs, and (when) no help can reach them! 39 Indeed, it will come upon them suddenly and confound them; and they will not be able to ward it off, nor shall they be reprieved. 40 And certainly apostles before you were scoffed at, then there befell those of them who scoffed that at which they had scoffed. 41
