I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But then they divided up their order into different creeds, each section rejoicing in what it had come to have. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that by all the wealth and offspring with which We provide them 55 We would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand. 56 Surely those who live in awe of their Lord, 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be returners. 60 These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race. 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a Book with Us which speaks the truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 In fact, the hearts of the unbelievers are in the dark because of their ignorance of real virtue; they act against it. 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 Cry not for succor this day; surely you shall not be given help from Us. 65 My revelations were recited to you, but you turned your backs 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Did they never ponder over this Word (of God)? Or has he (to wit, the Messenger) brought something the like of which did not come to their forefathers of yore? 68 Or did they not recognise their apostle, and rejected him? 69 Or they say, “He is afflicted by a demon”; in fact he brought the Truth to them, and most of them dislike the Truth. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or dost thou ask them for tribute? Yet the tribute of thy Lord is better, and He is the best of providers. 72 And indeed you call them to the Straight Path. 73 And verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed deviating far astray from the Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism). 74 ۞ And though We have mercy on them We may remove whatsoever of hurt is with them, surely they would persist in their exorbitance, wandering perplexed. 75 We struck them with torment, but they did not submit themselves to their Lord, nor did they make themselves humble 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
