And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
