The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 The rising dawn, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
