۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Are we not then to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
